Hyde Grammar School Football Team 1946
Hyde Grammar School Football Team 1946, filmed by George Wain.
Look out for future Manchester United and England star Warren Bradley, future PE master Fred Whyatt, and headmaster Dr Couzens.
Thanks, Gerald. On second viewing, it's obviously the top field at the school. I was confused because in my day there were more trees obscuring the views of the hills and there weren't so many factory chimneys. The white building at the top of some shots is the Duke of Sussex pub at the junction of Victoria Street and Ashton Road.
Sorry about having to keep captchas on my blogs but I took them off and got inundated with spam - I appreciate your efforts to comment despite the hurdle.
Stunning Gerald... as much for the views around that area as the football.. and the music reminded me of times long gone.
ReplyDeleteGreat posting.

Fantastic film. Do you know whereabouts it was made?
ReplyDeleteAnon - around Hyde GS presumably - follow the link through to the original on YouTube and contact the poster if you need more information.
