Corner Shop
The CDPB theme this month is "Corner Shop".
This shop on the corner of Croft Street and Railway Street is alas, no longer a shop but like so many has been converted into an ordinary house as you can see on Hyde DP.

it's fantastic to be able to see the now and then. what a shame it had to close.
ReplyDeleteAgain a site echoed throughout the UK the old corner shop now housing.
ReplyDeleteGary said that Fleetwood still has lots of these corner shops still going, despite the rise of the Freeport.
Interesting choice and topic, Gerald. At least, the building endures and serves a good purpose.

ReplyDeleteMy Mum and Dad used to own this shop in the 1970's!!
ReplyDeleteI remember when this was a shop, not too long ago, actually, I think it definitely survived into the 21st century.
ReplyDeleteI live nearby and used to go there for sweets as a kid.
i remember when there was a butchers oposite the queen addalade pub and a post office next to the newsagents and a big shop selling allsorts on the corner or joel lane oposite the grapes pub
ReplyDeletethere was shops on wych fold like a convieniance store etc and i remember looking out of my old bedroom window in 33 joel lane watching people bowling behing the grapes and horses in stables that must of been in the mid 80;s
